Good Morning

I usually don't get to wake Pumpkin up in the morning because she somehow manages to get up before I go into her room, but this was one of the few occasions that I got to her first. I love her little chipmunk smile at the end. She is doing well, her top two teeth are threatening to come through anytime, they don't seem to be bothering her, thank goodness. She is pulling up on everything. Her new favorite things to do are to antagonize the cat (cackling the whole time while she does it) and trying to play with the dogs food and water dishes. YUCK! She is also talking all the time. I had started sleep training about three weeks ago and she has been sleeping through the night for almost 2 weeks. I can also put her in her crib drowsy (but awake) and she will put herself to sleep. Next week I'm going to start nap training to see if I can teach her to put herself to sleep at naptime, wish me luck!!

2nd video - this is fun!!

Ok, I'm probably overloading on the posts today but when I get time, I have so much I want to post. Anyway, as you can probably tell, our new computer is a Mac and it has lots of cool editing features. I've just learned how to do basic video and it is pretty easy so I will hopefully be doing more videos in the near future. Btw, Pumpkin is eating apples. If you think this is bad, you should see her when she eats apricots!

Cloth diapers and church clothes

This is Pumpkin's new cloth diaper. It's made out of that really soft minky fabric, it's very soft and fuzzy. It is made by Blueberry Diapers and they have tons of really fun prints (like cow, cheetah, tie-dyed, dalmation, etc.) I had wanted one for a long time but they are not the cheapest thing out there, but I found this on sale and ordered it on a whim. I can't wait until summer when she can run around in just a diaper, it's so cute I hate to cover it up.
As you can see, Pumpkin is pulling up on things now. One day after her nap I walked in and she was standing up in her crib looking as pleased as could be. She's been pulling up quite a bit since then. She is also into EVERYTHING. A has been sick and she loves to go after his dirty kleenex's, yuck!
Pumpkin before church on Sunday. I love this little plaid coat and black pant combo. She got this from her cousins in Boise, Idaho. I just imagine this is what all the really cute kids in Boise wear!

My latest sewing project

So, I've been hearing a lot about refashioning clothing lately and thought it sounded like fun. For those of you who have never heard of it, it's where you take a piece of clothing you no longer want (like a man's shirt) and turn it into something else (like an apron). I decided I could do it if other people could. I think the big resurgence of refashioning is kind of funny because people used to do it all the time. Anyway, I took a sleeveless maternity top someone gave me that I didn't wear often because I was hugely pregnant in the winter and didn't get to wear summery clothes much. However, I loved the fabric and the color. So I took this top . . .
and made this . . . . . .

It turned out really cute even though it took quite a while. The tutorial I followed said it would take 30-45 minutes but I had to rip out seams and darts and then resew to get strait seams so it took a LOT longer. Anyway, I made it a little big so it should fit Pumpkin all summer. I'm pretty proud of it and am already thinking of other things I can refashion.

What we've been doing this winter

Pumpkin got out in the snow for the first time last week. We've had a lot more snow, but it was fairly warm this time as opposed to the below zero temperatures we have had. Anyway, it was the first time she had actually touched snow and I'm sorry to say it was not a big hit. I put her down and she would stick a hand in and then bring it out and shake it off. It didn't take very long for her to start to cry. Needless to say, we didn't stay out very long. She was more interested in her boot than she was the snow.
"Mommy, get me out of here!"
"That's better, Mom, now let's get inside where it is warm."
