Quick update

I went to the breastfeeding support group this morning (still having issues) and Pumpkin got weighed. Last week she was 8 lbs 14 oz (her birth weight was 9 lbs 1 oz) and this week she was 9 lbs 5 oz. Go Pumpkin!!

We went to church for the first time on Sunday. She slept through Sunday School and then stayed awake the whole church service. She also had her first blow-out (while I was feeding her) as well. She had another blow-out that afternoon so I decided it was time to move up in her diaper size from newborn to Size 1. My girl is getting big. She's not over the weight limit for newborn diapers, but her little legs are not the skinniest so I think that is what is causing the problem.

New picture

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Pumpkin is keeping us pretty busy, but I promise to post more pictures soon. Our air conditioner is out so I have been meeting with repairmen to get quotes on new ones. I also went to a breastfeeding support group last week. I have been having some issues with pain while breastfeeding that I am trying to work through. I also met with our doula to go over the birth and get the pictures she took, which are really good. I will be posting some of those pictures soon and hopefully the birth story in the next couple of days. Today is my first day with her all by myself and it is going pretty well, I even got a shower!

This weekend

My mom was here from Sunday to Saturday and we couldn't have made it without her! Pumpkin can't wait for Grandma and Granddad to come back up and see her!

Tummy time

We tried a little tummy time this weekend. Needless to say, she is not fond of it (see 2nd picture, this is after we had turned her over). I'm sure she will like it more as we go on (I hope).

Who is that good looking girl in the window?

I think some of my favorite pictures so far are of her looking at herself in the mirror. This is one of the very fashionable hats Grandma brought for her. The other babies at church won't know what hit them!!

Truer words have never been spoken (see onesie)

This is one girl who really has daddy wrapped around her little finger. It is very cute how he makes over her. He has her figured out, though. She likes to get her diaper changed and then fills it completely up within two minutes. "A" tried to convince us that that was her favorite thing to do, but we didn't believe him. Pumpkin proved him right twice yesterday! She had a fussy night last night. "A" was up from 11-2 trying to keep her happy while I slept. I'm so thankful for him.

Pediatrician visit and 1 week birthday

Wednesday was Pumpkin's 1 week birthday. We celebrated by going to the Pediatrician! When she left the hospital she weighed 8 lbs 5 ounces (she was 9 lbs 1 ounce at birth) and at the Pediatrician's she weighed 8 lbs 10 ounces which is a good gain. She also got a shot and did well, even though Mommy cried a little.

Update

Went to the hospital yesterday for a weight check. She is doing great and has gained back 1 ounce from the time we left the hospital. She is so much fun, she is very wide-eyed. Here are a couple pictures from today. We go tomorrow for her first pediatrician visit. Will post after we get back from there (hopefully). Got to take a nap before bedtime (it's 9:30 p.m.).

Well, we are doing well. We got home yesterday afternoon and are settling in slowly. I am recovering as well as can be expected, "A" says I now look like I'm only 5 months pregnant, not 6. "E" is doing well, she is doing pretty well with breastfeeding. Her first pediatrician appointment is Wednesday morning and we will try to take her in for a weight check at the hospital tomorrow to make sure she has not lost too much weight. She had lost about 6-8% of her birth weight before we left the hospital and they don't want her to lose more than 10%. My milk has come in so hopefully that will help her gain weight.

I will be posting more in the days to come. I am looking forward to talking to my doula in the next week or so to go over all the things that happened at delivery (it is a little fuzzy right now) and then I can better post the delivery story. Let's just say that it didn't turn out like I had hoped, but we are so happy that she is here safe and sound. We hope everyone has had a wonderful Easter.

She's Here

Our little girl "E" was born on April 8th at 6:26 p.m. She weighed 9 pounds 1 ounce and was 20 1/2 inches long. I did not have to get induced, I went into labor on my own on Tuesday, April 7th in the evening. No pitocin, but I did end up with a c-section.
Will post pictures and do full birth story later. Too tired now, we should be home on Saturday sometime.

We have a nephew!

I just heard from my brother and we have a new nephew. He was 8 pounds 9 ounces and was 22 inches long. My nephew "G" was so excited, he did a happy dance. He told me last week he was 99.99999% sure it was a girl, but he really wanted a little brother. We'll get to see pictures tomorrow when my parents come up, can't wait!

I'm going to be an auntie again

I wanted to also ask for prayer for my sister-in-law "S" who is being induced in the morning. "S" and my brother "A" are pregnant with their third child (they don't know if it is a boy or a girl) and she is due on Thursday but is being induced tomorrow morning. As my dad said "I'm doubling my grandchildren within two weeks" (that was when he found out about it). It turns out they are doubling their grandchildren in TWO DAYS. We're so excited about our new niece or nephew, we can't wait to meet her/him. Pumpkin is going to love sharing an "almost" birthday with her cousin (unless she decides to come tomorrow and then she will love sharing her birthday with them).

Induction, Pitocin and IV's, OH MY

Had my non-stress test this morning and Pumpkin did fine. She was a little sleepy so they used the buzzer again. She was not a happy camper! She put her feet in my ribs and proceeded to push as hard as she could, it hurt worse than any contraction I have had yet. But, it got the job done as she woke up and did what she was supposed to do.

Met with the Dr. and found out I am 1-2 cm dilated and about 90% effaced and she has dropped some more. Woo hoo, I'm happy with any progress at this point. They scheduled me for induction on Wednesday morning, we have to be there at 6:30 a.m. I'm still hoping to go into labor on my own, especially since I'm not sure what my platelet count will be on Wednesday. If they are too low, then I may not be able to have an epidural if I need one. I'm still planning on doing this thing naturally (without pain medications) if I can, regardless. So, please keep praying for a good platelet count AND for labor to start by itself AND a good labor AND most importantly, for a healthy Pumpkin.

I've got to go take a nap, I woke up about 4:45 a.m. this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. I'm exhausted. I guess this is getting me ready for all hours feeding. Hopefully Pumpkin won't decide that her new favorite spot to rest her feet is my ribs, they are still sore!!

10 days overdue and False alarm No. 1

We had an eventful morning. I woke up around 5 a.m. and thought my water had broken. We went to the hospital and found out that my water HAD NOT broken, AND I was still only 1 cm dilated and not fully effaced. Arggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. So they sent us home because at 1 cm dilated, they can't even break my water if I wanted them to. So, I still have a Dr. appointment tomorrow and I am sure they will schedule me to be induced sometime this week.

Note to Pumpkin: Mommy is not amused.

No news is NOT good news

I don't have any updates. We went shopping for most of the afternoon and walked all over the place, and still no Pumpkin, only swollen ankles. This is one determined girl! We think she must have bought new furniture and a big screen tv and decided to settle in for the long haul. Maybe I need to show her all the cute clothes she will be able to wear when she comes out.

41 week picture

Is anyone else getting tired of seeing pictures of just me? Sigh. I'm off to walk on my treadmill.

Non-stress test No. 1 and Happy 41 weeks to Me

Had my non-stress test this morning and all went well, after Pumpkin decided to wake up. They had to use this really weird buzzer thing to get her to start moving. She did not appreciate the wake-up call, I can tell you that! If I haven't had her by Monday morning, I go back in for another non-stress test and then I will get checked for progress and probably discuss induction with my Dr. since I will be 41 weeks 5 days at that point. This is starting to get a little funny, even the neighbor kid who will come and walk Lucy while we are at the hospital is amazed that I haven't had her yet.

I'm a little disappointed that the chocolate cake test didn't work. I tried another piece last night after dinner and it didn't work either. We're all out of chocolate cake, so I guess I will have to give up that idea. I wonder if muffins would work? Hmmmmmmmm.

We will try to remember to take a 41 week picture tonight. I'm starting to think I may outgrow all my maternity clothes if she stays in too much longer. I don't know how much more my poor stomach can grow, I can't even imagine having twins, or triplets or octuplets, for that matter.

Update

Just had my yummy piece of chocolate cake, no signs of labor yet, but if it does start, I may have to publish my findings. It would make pregnant women everywhere happy! I know I feel a lot better.

Still waiting

Just got done walking on my treadmill for 45 minutes, drank a cup of Raspberry leaf tea and took an Evening Primrose oil pill (my Dr. said the tea and primrose pills wouldn't help anything, but they wouldn't hurt, either). So, we'll see if they do anything. I wonder if chocolate cake will induce labor, I think I'll try it.
